Butter Used to Make “Wheels go Round”
Necessity knows no law in farming circles during times of low prices for produce, so the farmers living in the Magrath district, south of Lethbridge, in the U.S.A., have found that standard axle grease at 16 cents a pound is not the cheapest lubricant to grea'se tneif farm machinery. Instead they are using butter, which is quoted at 10 cents a pound in this locality, and lard, which is valued at 9 cents a pound. They state that they save money by using ' theise substitutes to ! "make the wheels go round’’ or greasa I their axles, and maintain that these subI substitutes are fairly satisfactory.
