In the course of his reply to the address of welcome from the Mayor (Mr. John Eider) at Woodville yesterday, the Governor-General (Lord Bledisloe) made reference to the Mayor's claim that the Woodville district was second to none -as a dairying district. He went on to state that Mr. Elder had a name associated with some of the finest farms and. finest farmers in the world —those of tho Lowlands of Scotland. “I once had a manager named John Elder and a better farmer and a better man I have never met,” he added amid applause.
