Renovating Dingy Matting. Matting rugs may be painted successfully, states “The Queen.” First clean tho matting, then scrub it with soap and water and let it dry. It will take several days to dry, and may need to bo hung where tho air will reach it. After it is dry, stretch it flat on tho floor and fasten it at tho four corners. Paint it the desired colour, using a good floor paint. When the first coat of paint is dry, apply a second coat. When dry, the rug should bo ready for use, and will probably last much longer than new matting, particularly if it receives a new coat of paint each year. When Cooking Fish.
