Mr. H. Doreen, of Argyle avenue, loaves to-day on a holiday visit to Wellington. The King has approved the reappointment for another year of air Malcolm Hailey, Governor of the United Provinces of India for the past live years, states a cablo message. The Wellington Education Board on Wednesday farewelled three headmastors of city schools who are retiring. They were: Mr. S. H. Eerguson, headmaster of Wadestown School (415 years' service); Mr. W. E. Hird, headmaster of To Aro School (40J years); and Mr. S. Duncan, headmaster of Tavra Flat School (33 years) . Mr. E. G. Matthews, president of the Palmerston North branch of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, who met with injuries to his back in a motor accident when returning from a Ashing expedition in the Kangitikei district about Christmas time, is now making favourable progress towards recovery. He occupied the chair at tho branch meeting la'st evening.
