From Our Own Correspondent. The cricket team to play at Foil ding' on Saturday will bo selected from the following players: —Campbell, Farrow, Burch, Williamson, Griffin, Collin, W. Drew, Murphy, Meads, Lumsdcn, hoove, Anderson. Weather conditions being favourable, an enjoyable day is promised those who arc able to attend the Manawatu County's annual picnic to be held at the Foxton beach on Saturday next. The Southern Cross was seen passing over the north-cast of this district on Monday morning when Sir Charles Kingsford Smith was on his way to the carnival at Wanganui. A meeting of the junior members of the Sanson Women's Institute was held on Tuesday afternoon to arrange the programme for the regular meeting on February 7. The programme -will feature a demonstration of making piue'needle baskets, a short play, a competition, items, etc., and a pleasant evening is assured. With the opening of school on Wednesday, February 1, those children who have been fortunate enough to spend their holidays in other places have now almost all returned home.
