Tokomaru
From Our Own Correspondent. The local cricket club journeyed to Oroua Downs during the week-end to try conclusions with the Oroua Downs team. Tho Tokomaru team were the victors by an innings and nine runs. Oroua Downs, in thoir first innings, made 34 runs, Aubrey being the highest scorer with 13 runs. The bowling analysis was: Greig, 6 for 9 runs, Sherlock, 2 for 4, Jackson 1 for 17; Perry 1 for 3. The only byo .of the game was in this innings. Tokomaru ’s first innings totalled 116, the highest scores being Whyte 28, Sherlock 26, Grady 20 (not out), Perry 11, and Greig 10. The bowling analysis was, Scott 4 for 35, Jarvis 4 for 35, Baker 1 for 17. Oroua Downs second innings totalled 73 runs, the highest scorers being, Baker 26, and Field 10. The bowling analysis was, Greig 4 for 19, Sherlock 4 for 20, Perry 1 for 3, Jackson 1 for 15, Simpson 0 for 21. Tokomaru once again showed very good fielding, some very nice catchos being taken by Jackson, Perry, Matthews and Whyte. The last wicket fell to Perry from a high catch.
A very unfortunate accident occurred on a Tokomaru farm during the week-end, when Mr G. Wilton while engaged in his fannwork was attacked by a bull. Fortunately the young man was close to a fence when attacked. Ho received a severe shaking and also injuries to his face. Mr Wilton is progressing quite satisfactorily. Miss C. Wielbb will be a visitor to Levin during the week, when she will participate in the horse jumping events at the Levin Show. Miss Webb is riding Mr D. Cowdrey’s horse from Oroua Downs While competing in this event last year, Miss Webb was thrown .from her Ihorso and suffered several minor injuries. Miss I Wilton, who has been spending a holiday in Wellington, has returned home.
Miss D. Webb was a visitor to Wanganui during the week-end.
