From Our Own Correspondent. Tho Norsewood Town Board held their monthly meeting on Thursday night, there being present Messrs. W. H. Pudge (chairman), E. Parsons, H. Nielsen, 0. Erickson and F. Schmidt. It was decided to allocate a certain spot for tlio dumping of rubbish by the townspeople and a suitablo site was subsequently chosen by a committee on Friday afternoon. It was decided to rcplaco several culverts in the Town Board area with eoncrcto pipes. The dog tax was lixed at 2s (id per head for the year and the clerk instructed to procure the necessary number of collars. Occupibrs of property are to be notified that all noxious weeds are to be destroyed immediately, prosecution to follow failure to comply. Accounts for £l4 2s 6d were passed for payment. Sitting as the Domain Board, a proposal re tho erection of a eoncrcto dam across the .stream running through Anzac Park, with tho object of forming a swimming pool, Was discussed. As a number of private individuals havo signified their willingness to assist this project, tho clerk was instructed to open a subscription list and if the support received is sufficiently encouraging, a public meeting is to be called to further tho scheme. Anzac Park, being a motorists’ camping ground on the Wcllington-Napioi' highway, a swimming pool should greatly add to its popularity. Ensign and Mrs. Barnes, who have been transferred from Terrace End, Palmerston North, have taken charge of the local Salvation Army Corps., and arrived here last Thursday. A public welcome was accorded them and Ensign Barnes expressed his pleasure in coming to Norsewood and hoped that his period of work hero would bo mutually helpful. The quarterly meeting of tho Norsewood district Methodist Church was held at the parsonago on Friday afternoon, the Rev. T. Copeland, chairman of the district, presiding over a representative gathering of officials from all parts of the circuit. He expressed appreciation of the long and faithful services of the Into Mr. C. F. Frcdericksen, and the sympathy of the meeting was extended to his family and relations. Sympathy was also conveyed to Mrs. Anton Qlsen in the recent death of her father, Mr. S. E. Ashton, and gratitude for‘his many years of service to tho church. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. E. Parsons for her services as organist and the hope expressed that she will soon be able to return to her ho?nc from Palmerston North, where she recently underwent a serious operation. The report and balance sheet of the recent golden jubilee celebrations was read and adopted, all present voicing their satisfaction at the spiritual and social success of the effort. Special thanks were accorded the Rev. C. Aker for his work in organising the celebrations, it being generally recognised that the brunt of the work had fallen on his shoulders. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year :—circuit stewards. Messrs. C. and E.-Parsons, A. Olsen, A. Mulindcr, C. Schofield, Miss Mildon and Mrs. Read ; sacramental stewards, Mrs. E. Parsons and Miss Mildon ; congregational representative, Mr. F. Read.
