General Advance at Addington

EXCHANGE AFFECTS PRICES Per Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Values at Addington market were considerably affected by the new export schedule influenced by higher exchange, there being a general advance in all sections. For fat lambs there was a rise of 2/6 per head for a fairly large entry of good quality. Store lambs advanced to 1/G and 2/-, fat ewes 2/- and wethers 3/6. Butchers and exporters competed keenly. Fat cattle advanced 10/- to 15/- per head. Store Sheep.—This section included a flue selection of lambs. Fat Lambs.—A yarding of 4700 was one of the best quality entries for some time. Values: Extra prime to 20s lOd; prime heavy 16s Gd to 18s Gd; medium 13s Gd to 16s; light 11s to 13s. There was a small entry of fat sheep of good quality, all classes rising substantially at the outset. Values: Extra prime wethers 20s; prime lGs Gd to 18s; medium 14s Gd to 16/-; ordinary 13s to 14s 3d; light 10s Gd to 12s Gd; extra prime ewes to 14s lOd; prime 12s to 13s Gd; medium 10s to 11s Id; ordinary 8s to 9s Gd; light Gs to 7s Gd. The fat cattle were of mixed quality and sold irregularly. The average advance was good. Best beef made 19s Gd to 21s per lOOlbs.; good steer beief 17s to 19s; medium 16s to 17s; heavy 15s Gd to 17s Gd; medium cow 11s to 13s Gd; rough clown to 9s. Extra prime steers to £lO 2s Gd; prime heavy £7 to £8 15s; medium £5 5s to £7; ordinary £3 15s to £5; light to £3 10s; extra prime heifers to £S 12s Gd; prime £4 10s to £G 10s; medium £3 to £4 ss; light to £3; extra prime cows to £7 7s Gd; prime £4 to £5 ,10s; medium £2 15s to £3 15s; light to £2 10s. There was a medium entry of fat pigs with a slightly better demand. Values: Choppers 33s 6d to £2 18s; porkers 18s to 23s Gd; heavy porkers 25s Gd to 28s Gd; extra heavy porkers to 30s (average price per pound 31 d to baconers 3.1 sGd to 38s Gd; heavy baconers 40s to 46s Gd; extra heavy baconers to 30s (average price per pound 3:!d to 3Jd.)
