From Our Own Correspondent. The January meeting of the W.D.F.U. was held at Mrs. E. G. Wardlo’s residence last Wednesday afternoon whose gardens were much admired. The meeting commenced by the president (Airs. I’Anson) reading the Division Greed. It. was proposed by Airs. Harris and seconded by' Airs. Wardlo to hold a garden party at Mrs. I'Anson’s on the 31st of this month. A table-centre donated by Airs. W. Cook was won by Mrs. W. A. Saunders, the lucky number being 10. The competition, six heaviest hen eggs w r as won by Airs. Ivlien. Next month’s competition is the best variety of vegetables, afterwards to be given to charity. The next meeting is to be held at Airs. S. B. Fairbrothers. Hostesses to be Alosdames J. Harris, S. B. Fail-brother and S. Rhodes. Mr. C. Rowland, first assistant, Malta rahara Factory, returned on Sunday from a visit to liis parents at Toko'maru. Air; B. IVintcr left to-day for a short stay in Napier. Mrs. J. Hawke and her two children, returned on Su "day from a fortnight at Foxton beach. The hay making in this district has been greatly delayed owing to the unsettled weather. The cricket match between Waiaruku and Alnharahara played at Air. Coe’s was won by Alaliurahara by ten wickets. One of the most severe thunder storms experienced this season, visited this district on Sunday evening, finding most of the weak places in the roofs of houses.
