TENNIS PARTY AND DANCE AT “WOODSTOCK." A tennis party and dance for his young friends was given on Thursday by Anthony Banks at his home, "Woodstock,’’ Kiwitoa. in the bright sunshine of a perfect summer day the grounds with their ornamental shrubs and trees, brilliant gardens and velvety flower-bordered lawns, made a truly beautiful picture and in such ideal surroundings the girls and boys spent a delightful time indeed. Tennis commenced at 1.30 and was continued until a late hour, tho winners being Aliss Beth Parkcs and Alias Alargaret Thomas who was a visitor from New Plymouth. Clock golf was also playod and was won by Aliss Betty Barry. During, the afternoon, sandwiches in great variety and cooling drinks were dispensed and at tho cud of the day tea was served under wide spreading trees ,and was a very merry meal. In the evening the young people repaired to the dining-room which mado a spacious ballroom and was most artistically decorated with prunus' foliage and carnations, dahlias and nasturtions in the richest of crimson and golden tones. Novelty dances added interest to the proceedings and were won by Aliss Betty Barry and Jock AlcEwen and Aliss Elaine Bailey and Geoffrey Hair. A lavish supper was set out in the drawing-room, the adornment of which was prettily carried out with roses and other lovely summer blooms. An evening of the greatest pleasure came to an end shortly after one o’clock with cheers for the Banks’ family. Among those present were blisses Brenda Banks, Alolly Ross, Norah Beattie, Barbara Blakiston (Danuevirke), Alaisie Bell, Beth Parkcs, Alargaret Thomas, Joy Stuckey, Winnie Stuckey, Elaine Bailey, Joan Dernier, Alargaret Luxmoore, and William Banks, Bruce Beattie, Geoffrey Buchanan, Bobbie Swainson, Jock AlcEwen, Geoffrey Hair, Tony Luxmoore, Dick Toogood (Wanganui), Tim Baker, T. Norris, Stewart Crainc, AL Blakiston and Mick Banks.
