S. BARROWS WINS CHAMPIONSHIP BELT.

Marking tlio first Association shoot hold on the Bulls range for fifteen years, the Rangitikei-Cheltcnham Rifle Association handicap fixture took place at Bulls on Monday, some seventy riflemen representative of all neighbouring clubs participating. Conditions were amenable for good shooting, there being but littlo variation in tho wind, whilo tho light was in the marksmen’s favour. Two cx-New Zealand champions in D. Roots (Haword), and E. King (Wanganui), Were among the competitors. Despite the good conditions there was only one possible at 300 yards, 8. Barrow, of Cheltenham ringing on ten bulls. A. Dickinson, of Mangawcka, scored a possible at 500 yards, and this was tho only other put on, the final match being won by an “all but,’’ scored by the Bulls marksman, C. M. Broughton. Tho officials controlling the shoot wore: Range officer, Captain Hugh Johnston, M.C.; council, Messrs F. J. Soler,, J. C. Williamson L. Huddleston, K. W. Dalrymple, D. Lundy; committee, Messrs K. W. Dalrymple, D. Lundy, C. M. Broughton, L. Huddlestonc, F. J. Soler, S. Mayhcw, and R. E. Stuart; hon. secretary, Mr D. Lundy. Captain Johnston is to bo congratulated on his sterling work as rangeofficer, and secretary Davo Lundy and his capable assistants quickly posted the results of tho shoot, the organisation of which left nothing to be desired. , t

At the conclusion of tho shoot, Mr K. W. Dalrymple presented the trophies won, and called for cheers for the belt winner, runner up, and range officer, paying tribute also to the markers. Tlio teams matches were very keenly contested Wanganui winning the four-man championship shield (presented by the Rangitikci Defence Rifle Club), Bulls being 16 points behind. The handicap shield, which takes the Ncwman-Sanson-Ohakea Cup, was also won by the Wanganui eight, Bulls being runners up. To S .Barrow, of Cheltenham, fell the honour of being the first winner of tho Rangitikci Championship Belt (a handsome trophy presented by the president, Mr K. W. Dalrymple) together with the aggregate prize-money. The runner-up, C. M.
