High Exchange Rate Beneficial in Australia
VIEW OF VICTORIAN VISITOR “Wo experienced concern at the high rate of exchange when it was introduced to Australia. It was first up to 35 per cent., but has now been reduced to 25 per cent./' stated Mr. E. G. Ham, M.8.E., tour secretary of the Victorian farmers’ party at present visiting Palmerston North during its New Zealand tour. “It is looked upon generally as a benefit to the farmer, because production for export should work out in his interests and so, your Dominion, being a largo exporter, should get more money,” he added. “So far wo have felt no injurious effect in Australia and it has now been in operation about 12 months. It has not hurt the farmers or the townspeople. ’ ’
