Railway Picnic
Palmerston’s premier picnic, that of the local Railway employees, will this year bo held at the GoTge Domain on Sunday, February 5, when as has been the custom in the past, a very liberal 'supply of hot water, tea, sugar, milk and cordials will he supplied to patrons free. The children are being specially catered for with ice cream, fruit, lollies and toys; also cash prizes for the various events on the children s programme. The usual adult programme has° again been arranged, cash prizes for which have been provided. Due provision has also been mado for the women folk, as there are events for single ladies, married ladies and visitors’ race, while other novelty events include ladies’ nail-driving and chainstepping. The Garrison Band has intimated its intention of being present nt the picnic to discourse music during tho day. A strong committee, embracing members of tho various branches of the service, has been working hard during the past few weeks attending to the various details necessary for a successful picnic, and at tho final meeting held yesterday it was reported that the all-clear signal had been lowered, indicating that every arrangement had been attended to to ensure that the Railway Picnic’of 1933 would outdistance its predecessors. The departure time and return of trains will bo advertised later.
