Per Press Association. The Wellington Racing Club’s summer Meeting concluded at Trentham in fine, cool weather. There was a largo attendance. The track war, soft. Tho totalisator handled £43,676 and the total for the meeting was £91,447 as against £103,193 last Summer, the decrease being £8746.

An inquiry was held into alleged crossing by Aiguille on to Eminent in the Thorndon Handicap but after hearing the evidence it was decided that no action bo taken. Results : —•

Lancet, Court Yard and Navaho led to the straight with Zeebrugge. Chief Light then came on the outer to win decisively by a neck from Navaho. Zeebrugge was a length further away and Lyrical was fourth. Time, 1.42.

Red Manfred, winner of two of the season’s early classics, returned to his best, form to’win the Hopeful Stakes Handicap. Dole, from an outside marble, showed terrific speed away from the barrier, and was soon outlengths clear of the others. Ho came over on to the course proper, still well out in the van, with Porotiti, Golden Hair, Quietly, Lady Nan and Red Manfred the nearest in pursuit. Red Manfred then issued a challenge in his best, style, and with Dole stopping under his big weight ho raced pa'st him to score by - a. length and a-lialf. Dole obtained second money by a head from Golden Hair, Pegged Exchange being a good fourth, with Quietly and Porotiti next and Lady Nan last. Time, 1.1. . . AVinner trained by F. Davis, Woodville. I

Navaho, having his second start of the day, won narrowly in the concluding event, but. while lie deserved his success for his consistency ho was lucky t.o beat Good Hunting, who was squeezed back at. tho three furlongs. Haulbowline, Navaho, Good Hunting. Hurlingham, Shining Gold, Might and Pedestal were early prominent. Good Hunting was pinched back at the three furlong's, Haulbowline loading into the straight with Navaho, from Shining Gold, Pedestal and Might. Shining Gold had charge over tho last furlong, having run. over to tho rail's, but Navaho had him beaten in the run homo. Then Good Hunting came again, and finishing solidly, just failed to get up. Shining Gold was a good third, with Wasteland fourth; then came Pedestal and Might.

TKENTHAM ENDS. SEATOWN’S SURPRISE. LORDLY KNIGHT WINS SPRINT. Special to Times. Chief Line Again. In the Wallaceville High weight Handicap, Nightguard and Saltpot led the way in the run to tho straight with Palace, Jayson and Grand Blow following. Saltpot stopped quickly after turning for home, Nightguard was soon under pressure. A furlong from home, Chief Lino moved up on tho outside and ran' on to win easily by a length from Golden Horn. Nightguard was a couple of lengths away third, Clangor was fourth, followed, by King Thomond and Palace. Tho winner has improved as the meeting has progressed and to-day won as he liked.

Another to the South. Prom a good start in tho Kelburn Handicap, Courtyard quickly worked to the front and led from Bee Aero and Zeebrugge, while Navalio, who had not got away w r ell, moved into a prominent position. Zeebrugge was slightly in advance of the others coming into the straight, 1 where Tippling, Courtyard,

Azalea, Importance and Lyrical were prominent. Zeebruggo was in trouble at the distance, and Navalio soon ran to tho front, but Chief Light outstayed him and won by half a length. Zecbrugge, a length away, just got third place from Lyrical. Tippling was a poor fifth. The riders of several of the leaders made their runs too soon. Navalio ran a groat raco and has steadily improved of late. Zeebrugge looks sure to win a raco soon. Hopeful Stakes.

There was a long delay at tho start of ,tho Hopeful Stakes. Dole began very smartly and led on to tho course proper from Goldon Hair, Porotiti, Pegged Exchange and Pod Manfred, lied Manfred ran up to Dolo at . the distance and went on to beat him comfortably by a length and a half. Dole just beat Golden Hair for second place, and Pegged Exchange was fourth. A Decisive Victory.

Another good win went to the South Island when tho Molrosc' Handicap came up for decision. Kama! I’asha was taken to the front before reaching the straight and led round the homo turn from Eupator and Tea Garden. Nebulae and Broken 'Rule were at the head of the others. Kama! Pasha ran on to a decisive win. Chile, who finished fast, beat Eupator a head for second place, but was four lengths behind Kamal Pasha. Niggerhead was a poor fourth, then Nebulae, Cardinal Moon, Tea Garden and Bonnie Vale. Nebulae ran a fair race and stuck on gamely when beaten. Kama! Pasha outclassed the opposition all tbo way. Chile is improving and may win soon. The Chief Event. The Summer Handicap produced the biggest surpriso of the meeting. Seatown lost ground at the start, but tho rest went away in a fair line. Gay Crest, Befresher and Great Star led out of the straight, and at the mile were in front from Merry Peel, Atholspear, Chock Say, Bed Heckle, Princess Argosy and Scatown. Princess Argosy ran to the front when the race was half over, and she led to the straight froni Great Star, Merry Peel, Befresher and Bed Heckle. Princess Argosy compounded quickly and Great Star was in trouble at the distance, where Bed Heeklo was in front. Bed Heckle battled on well, but Soatown camo with a, late run and befit him by half a neck. Shatter was half a length away third, Gay Crost was fourth, then Befresher and Great Star. Soatown finished with a characteristic run and received an ovation on returning to scale. Befresher was always in tho picture and finished a fair fifth. Shatter is Toturning to form, and there was nothing WTong with Gay Crest's running. Won on the Post. Aiguille went closo to opening his account in open company -with a win, but was beaten on. the post. Thero was another long delay at tho start. Positions changed rapidly in tho run along the back, and crossing tho top Drum Eire was in charge from Bational 11., Hula Belle, Martian Chief, Aiguille, Argentic and Eminent. Argentic din the best of these in tho run home, but succumbed to Miladi’s lato effort. Eminent was in the fight all tho way along the straight, but weakened a littlo at the end and _ finished third, three lengths away. Gay Court was fourth, with Martian Chief, Argentic and Wise Choice next. Awaken again ran poorly and Bichficld and Glonvano wero left badly at the start. Banclagh got a poor Tun. Drum Eire was made a lot of use of. Eminent failed only in the last half furlong. A Great Finish. Souchong and Golden Wings led ou to the course proper in the City Handicap from Arvada and Lordly Knight, and in a great finish Lordly Knight won by half a head from Pomp, while Cricket Bat and Souchong were close u;> iu third and fourth placos. Golden Wings and Orapai wero next at the head of a closely-packed bunch. Tho Tiger did not get away very well, but Arvada had every chance. Orapai ran below expectations. The Final. Hnulbowlinc was first on to the course proper in the Kaitokc Hack Handicap, but stopped in ttie final run and Navalio beat the fast-finishing Good Hunting a head with Shining Gold a close third and Wasteland, Pedestal and Might next.
