Wine From Potatoes
Hundreds of miners in North-West Durham colliery villages’ have turned ■wine makers. They make wine made from potatoes and wheat. It is the same colour as whisky and as strong. There is now at Stanley a company formed entirely of unemployed miners, who have been making all sorts of wines. They have been selling their produce to local shopkeepers and at least 500 bottles have gone to wine merchants in Newcastle anil Gateshead.
