Obituary

MB DAVID PRYDE At the age of 72 years there passed away at Wellington on Sunday last, at tins residence of his daughter, Mr. David Pryde. Born at St. Andrews, Scotland, in golfing atmosphere deceased learned golf with the late Mr. John Ball, who later rose to great eminence in this sport. This late gentleman migrated to Moiv Zealand when a young man and settled in Wellington, starting business as a jeweller. While in residence at Wellington he won the New Zealand golf championship—3s years ago. Deceased went to Feilding about 30 years ago continuing business as a jeweller, and was one of the founders of the Feilding Golf Club, while at the time of his death he was a member of the committee and was nsgarded as the doyen of golf in Feilding. Deceased won the Feilding championship several years in succession and was an outstanding player at all New Zealand tournaments. Hc took a great interest in local politics and was a member of Feilding Borough Council for very many years, retaining his scat to the tiniio of his death. He acted as deputy-Mayor on several occasions. Apart front golf his principal hobby ■ was horticulture while ho was an authority on native flora, being chairman of the reserves committee over a long-period. He was greatly respected for 'his kindly disposition and will be sadly missed by a large circle of friends in Feilding and district.

His wife predeceased him. about five years ago. He leaves one soil and two daughters to mourn their loss. The interment will bo at the Feilding cemcterv this afternoon.
