Notes of the Day
Perfect weather prevailed in Fcilding yesterday for the Anniversary. Day holiday. There was no change ' yesterday in the condition of Patrick >Shortall, who was seriously einjured in a motor collision at Pending on Sunday. The injured boy was not driving the car, as stated in yesterday’s report. He was the only passenger in the back seat, the car being driven by an elder brother. Among those aboard the new Huddardt Parker luxury liner “Wanga-' nella” on her recent trip to the Sounds was Mr. W. Wilson, of i’eilding, who embarked at Wellington on Monday last and returned home on Friday. Leaving in the evening, a beautifully smooth trip south was experienced. The coastline was hugged and a line view of Greymoutli was obtained on Tuesday and later one of Ml. Cook and the Fox Glacier. On Wednesday morning the entrance to Milford Sound was made in a very rough sea but inside all was found to be smooth as a mill pond. A number of passengers went ashore at Milford to view various sights of interest. The trip .a particularly interesting one and deck quoit competitions and dancing in the, evening enhanced the pleasure of the passengers.
