DAMAGES TOR ALLEGED SLANDER CLAIMED
Per Press Association WELLINGTON, Last Night. A writ claiming £450 damages for alleged slander was issued on Saturday against a Wellington business man by the solicitors acting for Pcrcival Rhys Wingrovc, secretary of the Tailwaggers’ Club. The statement of claim sets out several defamatory statements alleged to have been made by defendant against plaintiff. Tho allegations relate to tho collection of .Tewards for lost dogs, veterinary treatment of dogs and the collection of funds by Alsatian Prince (tho dog which parades the city streets.) Three persons, two of whom are members of tho Tailwaggers’ Club, are named in the claim as having been witnesses to damaging statements alleged to have been made. It is set out that in consequence of tho remarks attributed to defendant plaintiff has been Injured in ihis reputation, particularly in his office as secretary of the Tailwaggers’ Club.
