MANAWATU RACING CLUB. BUMMER MEETING. ACCEPTANCES DUE TO-MORROW. Owners and trainers are reminded that acceptances for all first day events at the Manawatu Racing Club’s Summer meeting, to be held at Awapuni on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 26, 27 and 29 De- ' cember, are due to close at nine o’clock to-morrow. A reminder is also given that the final payment for the 27th. P.N. Stakes is due at the same time. NOTES FROM TAKANINI. TEA TRADER'S PROSPECTS. According to a report from the North, Tea Trader is working in his usual brilliant stylo and appears to bo bettor now than ever before. A very speedy colt, ho will be a forco to bo reckoned with in tho Railway Handicap on Boxing Day. Ho has also classic engagements during the Christmas carnival, including the King's Plate and the Great Northern Derby, and although the latter event may bo beyond him tho King’s Plato is an event that should bo within his compass. This colt is sure to be in demand in any of his engagements, where the journey does not extend beyond a mile. Another Takanini candidate which will claim attention during the Christmas period is Thespis. Thespis is a good track worker and he gallops well over any distance. His present condition will stand him in good stead for ho is very solid. Pillow Fight Being Tuned Cp. Pillow Fight bears a bright appearance, and is being subjected to more strenuous tasks in view of the Auckland meeting. Gold Trail’s defeat of this colt in the Great Northern Guineas was a surprise, but on that occasion his log injury obviously troubled him (states the Star). C. Morse hopes to have Mm in tip top order for the Great Northern Derby, in whiTTii event he will be called upon for the most strenuous engagement so far of his career. It is to bo hoped that the old injury does not again appear as he is a firstclass colt who appears to have a very bright future. It is stated that a great deal depends upon how he fares at Ellerslie as to whether he will be taken to America by his owner, Mr. D. J. Davis.

Gay Marigold Has Quality. Gay Marigold’s recent successes have placed her in the limelight and there is no doubt that what she lacks in size is made up in quality. Two hack races at Hamilton and one at Takapuna fell to her lot within tho last few weeks, and she should go on to even bettor deeds. She has been left in the Great Northern Derby, and even in this field should by no means disgrace herself (states the Star). Her dam, Queen March, threw King March, a good stayer, and it is possible that Gay Marigold has inherited staying power also. So far this season there has been only one outstanding filly—Silver Scorn —but if the Hatter is to go to Australia as intended, then Gay Marigold will have an opportunity to be noted as a classic winner in the Great Northern Oaks next Easter. To Race at New Plymouth. J. L. Gray intends taking Palace, Rereatu, Foulwind and Lady Vane to the Taranaki meeting at Christmas time, and tho trip should be successful. Palace showed at Avondale and Ellcrslio that he can gallop well, and tho Grandcourt gelding may do better where ho is not meeting such big fields. W. Goscomb is another mentor from this district who is contemplating the Taranaki trip at Christmas. His team entered for that fixture is St. Ames, Bugle Call, Kind Words, Princess Star and Helium. Chief Joy appears to be showing more of his old dash on the tracks of late, and is doing better now than formerly. He won at Hamilton, and, though he failed at Takapuna, his improvement may be more noticeable from now on. Last Saturday he ran live furlogs in 1.3, without being knocked about, so that there is little wrong with his condition. Speedmint and Royal Artist are undertaking plenty of serviceable work in preparation for the Auckland Cup. The former is to bo given a race at To Awamutu, where she will be meeting some of the Cup candidates, and she will bo hard to dispose of. Royal Artist has freshened up considerably, and as he was successful over a mile and a-half journey, he may not find the two miles in the Auckland Cup boyond him. E. Pope has two very likely light-weights in this pair. Auckland Cup Try Out. The Te Awamutu Cup, which comes up for decision next Saturday at Te Awamutu, should prove interesting, in view of the Auckland Cup which will be run about a week later, for, with the exception of three horses, all tho acceptors claim engagements in tho big event at Ellerslie.

• One of the seven acceptors for the sprint at Waipa is AH Humbug, which finished in third place behind Souchong and Midinete the second day at Feilding. Will Be At Waipa. Roy Reed leaves for Te Awamutu to-morrow night and he has been engaged to ride Gold Trail in tho Cup, Broken Rule and Thespis. T. R. GEORGE’S TEAM. The Blenheim trainer, T. R. George, will have three horses racing at the Manawatu meeting, these being Revision, Miladi, and Bettwyscoed. They wiU be tho first horses he has produced since his return from Victoria. Leading trainer for the last two years, he has yet to register his first win hero this season. Miladi and Revision are the two of Mr. J. J. Corry’s team recently sold to the Wellington sportsman, Mr, W. A. Fuller. Both were useful performers last season, tho formor, with eight wins, being excelled in number of successes for the term in the Dominion only by Imperial Fame (eleven wins) and Huntingdon (nine wins). Bettwyscoed is an unraced two-year-old filly by Tea Tray from the Bezonian mare La Paix (dam of Autopay, Delice, and Pound Note), and she will race in George’s own col--1 ours, having been purchased by him cheaply at the recent Greenwood dispersal sale for 35 guineas. CONCENTRATE RULING FAVOURITE FOR AUCKLAND CUP. Concentrate is the ruling favourite with pre-post operators, and two other ’ southerners who have entered prominently into calculations of late are Tout le Mond and Jaloux, the latter being , preferred (states an cxchango). There , will not be much change in operations until the candidates are on the scene, ; which should not be long now. While i final work may disclose something worth while, it is going to be hard to dethrone Concentrate from his exalted i position in public opinion in Auckland. TWO-YEAR-OLD RACES AT AUCKLAND. Thero will bo no lack of interest in tho two-year-old clashes at the Auckland Christmas meeting, when the best of tho Dominion’s juveniles will mea--1 sure strides (states a Northern exchange). The splendid form of Princess Doreen and Diatomous at the Epring meeting wiU keep them well in tho public eye, and Midian also showed up prominently. Red Manfred and Guarantee, who have not yet raced in Auckland will go up with the highest testimonials, and after his great display at Takapuna in his first public outing, Tavern Knight will not be neglected if he tackles the more experienced opposition. There should be some stirring moments when this lot meet.
