LOCAL COMPETITION BENEirrS SUPER WOOLS Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night, The first wool sale of the season was held in Christchurch this afternoon and evening. There was a full bench of buyers, including strong representation from local mills which had a considerable effect in increasing competition and raising prices for super wools. Twenty-five thousand bales were offered and the passings totalled about .10 per cent., being particularly heavy in the first two catalogues.

At the wool sales 10,255 bales were offered and 9564 sold, 765 being disposed of privately. The best lines of merino fleece and bulky skirtings ruled in sellers’ favour. All other descriptions were firm at late rates. There was good general competition. Greasy merino made 18d.
