PERSONALITIES
Air. A. T. Wells, Receiver of the Alental Hospitals Department, Wellington, is in Palmerston North on departmental business. Air. G. Taylor, of Palmerston North, has been appointed to a position on the staff of tho Plant Research Station and will be carrying oilt orchard research work at Nelson, for which place ho leaves to-day. Mr. A. Leslie, M.R.C.V.S., Veterinarian at Lincoln College, has been awarded the diploma of Fellow of tho Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, London, for a thesis on research into diseases of sheep in Canterbury. At yesterday’s meeting of the Wanganui Education Board, Mr. C. E. Whalley, headmaster of the Mosstown (Wanganui) school, tendered his resignation after 34 years of servieo. Mr. Whalley is a brother of Air. R. H. Whalley, of Palmerston North, and is well-known in this district. Tho resignation was received by tho board with regret and it was decided to send a letter of appreciation to Air. Whalley for his long and faithful service.
