COMPLAINT BY GATE STEWARD. "Motor-cars for which admission was paid to tho recent Royal Show numbered 486, an increase over tho tw r o previous years,” stated tho chairman df the gate stewards* (Mr W. G. Black) iin a report to 'the* Manawatu and West Coast ; A. dnd P Association’s general committee on Tuesday. Mr Black added: —"Tho number of admissions is 140 in excess of last year and with the exception, of tho years, 1929 and 1930, tho highest for eight years. Every effort was made to provido satisfactory car parking accommo-dation,-under properly regulated control, .but, a great deal of opposition was encountered from motorists and little consideration was extended by the stewards themselves, who Avere amongst tho Avorst culprits in breaches of the regulations. It is only fair to expect the officials of tho association to give ft proper example to the general public in this regard and to assist tho gate and ground steward in the carrying out of his duties.

"Had it not been for tho haphazard parking of officials’ cars around the stock pavilion and in almost eA'C-iy place instead of the proper parking place, my Avork Avouid not have been made so difficult and unpleasant on the first day of the sKoav. The safety and convenience of the public AA'ho patronise the slioav must bo our first consideration, and if haphazard parking occurs lit interferes not only Avith the stock displays but jeopardises the public safety and reduces the car admission revenue. With the large volume of motor traffic to-day and the gradually reducing area available in tho grounds for parking purposes it is essential that car parking be under the strictest possible control and I uoav appeal to every member of this committee (o assist the gate steward by their observances of the regulations and their example to the general public.”
