District Lamb Export Competition

FEILDING GROUP LIVE JUDGING Considerable interest was taken in tho live judging at the Feilding Freezing Works yesterday morning of the lambs entered in the Meat Board's district lamb export competition. ' Lhc entries comprised those of tho Feilding Group, and of the 6S pens entered, 4s came forward. The loss of 20 _ pens, was due to tho postponement until yesterday of the judging, while the co d weather conditions experienced late > resulted in the lambs receiving a slight setback. Mr. J. Knight, as chairman of the committee dealing with the local competition, was present throughout tho day and reported that cveiythincr went off very satisfactorily. In the absence of Mr. J. Webb, of Taihape, the live judging was undertaken by Mr.- James Caithness, of Taihape, while Mr. J. Drysdalc, of the Meat Board, undertook the task of selecting the best 15 pens (not to exceed 40 o freezing weight), to go forward for judging in London. Details of the results of the judging are as follow: — Live-weight Awards Ist.—Pen 36. Short Estate, receiving Mr. T. A. Duncan’s prize of £3 3s. The lambs each weighed 731 b and were disqualified for London judging on account of being over-weight. 2nd—Pen 67: L. T. McLean receiving Mr. J. Knight’s prize of £2 2s. Two lambs weighed 091 b and one 701 b. All were disqualified for London judging. . . .. 3rd—Pen 4; J. Shortall receiving the Feilding A. and P- Association’s prize of £1 Is. The lambs weighed GS 70 and 711 b respectively- They will go forward for London judging.
