IMLAY FREEZING WORKS IN ACTION. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Nov. 16. The Imlay Freezing Works commenced the season this morning with free labour. Only two gangs of nine men each are required at present. A large number of union men assembled outside the works, but there was no disturbance. The police were in evidence. A Bitter Fight UNEMPLOYED AS FREE LABOURERS GISBORNE, Last Night. In connection with tho reopening of the Kaiti. freezing works to-day, at a mass meeting of unemployed to-night a list of 25 men who had accepted work was displayed on a blackboard. The name of each was read out and evoked hostile demonstrations. *

The secretary of the local freezing workers’ union claimed that the fight would be bitter, and that their opponents included some of their oq/u men.
