At a recent meeting of tlie Methodist Women's Missionary Auxiliary in Wellington, Mrs H. E. Pacey, formerly of Palmerston North, was accorded a war mwclcomo to Wellington in her capacity as Dominion president. She was presented with a bouquet of root’s and maidenhair fern by Mrs H. J. Howe, who presided.

Miss Violet Bussell, youngest daughter of the late Sir William Bussell, formerly of Hawke's Bay, who has been living in London for ‘somo years, is at present visiting the Dominion. Hho has been the guest of Mrs. Hewitt, Church street, Palmerston North, and left on Tuesday to visit Mrs. Hamish Wilson at Bulls.

One of the matters in which the Auckland branch of the National Council of Women has taken an activo interest is that of the preservation of the kauri forests of the North. At the meeting -which was convened by xne Auckland District Council of the NevT Zealand Institute of Horticulture for the purpose of discussing measures to be taken in this direction, the National Council was represented by Mrs H. McNair.

There was a pleasing incident, at the meeting of the .Mothers’ Union yesterday when Rev. P. Wiltshire, formerly of All Saints’ parish and now of Pongaroa, was presented with a silver serviette ring for his small son. The presentation was made by Rev. C. Hyde, who extended congratulations on behalf of the members. Returning thanks. Rev. Wiltshire said he would never forget the kindness he had received from members of tho branch.
