Soak now coloured articles in salt and water before washing in the or* dinary way, this prevents the colour from running.
By washing cretonne covers in water in which you have squeezed a muslin tag of bran, you not only help to keep their colours bright, but also save yourself the trouble of starching. JBran gives Just that slight stillness which makes cretonne hang well and serves to keep it fresh and uncrushed. To bleach white handkerchiefs which have become discoloured, add a few drops of peroxido of hydrogen ’to the Avater in which they are boiled.
