Driver Falls From Express
KILLED AT 60 MILES AN HOUR
Mr. J. Grover, of Basingstoke, the driver of a passenger train travelling at nearly 60 miles an hour on 4 the Southern Railway between Grateley and Andover Junction to-day, fell headlong from the footplate and was killed.
It has not been established whether he slipped or was taken ill. The fireman, Mr. Ballard, of Basingstoke, pulled up the train, and Dr. L. S. Luckham, of Salisbury who was travelling on it, went to the driver’s aid, but it was apparent that he could only live a few minutes. Growor was a single man, and it. was not known whether ho had relatives other than a sister,- who is said to be seriously ill.
