ANNUAL REPORT

The annual report of the Feilding and District Public Schools’ Amateur Athletic Association, to be presented at the annual meeting this evening is as follows: Pina nee: The year closed with a credit balance of just over £23. Por this happy state of affairs we are indebted to the teachers, children auu parents who have so loyally supported! us over a long period of years. It is pleasing to be able to record that, ever since 1925, w T e have been ablo to swell our credit balance a trifle annually.

Membership: The total receipts under this head were £l4 8s 6d. 'inis represents a total of 115 members. The headmasters of the affiliated schools are largely responsible for the maintenance of membership and the council records its appreciation of iheir efforts. Annual sports: The twelfth annual sports were held on Kowhai park on March 12 last. A record number of schools (-7) competed in the various events and the day was an outstanding success. The major trophies were won as follow: —

Guthrie shield (most points iu boys' events): Lyttou Street School, Feild-

McCorkindale rose bowl (most points in girls’ events): Manchester Street School, Feilding. Country schools’ trophy: Kopane School.

It is interesting to record that, alter the sports meeting, the council placed on record a. motion congratulating tne children ami through them, the parents and teachers, on the excellent behaviour and sporting spirit displayed by one and all.

It is with the deepest regret that we place on record the loss sustained by the association by the death of our patron, Mr. \Y. A. Collins, Into chairman of the Wanganui Education Board. The deceased gentleman was a regular visitor to our functions and, in all matters pertaining to the welfare of the rising generation, gave of his best.

Thanks: Our thanks are due. to all who assisted us during the year, there being so many willing helpers that it would be invidious to particularise.

With the enthusiastic support ot teachers and parents who have never yet failed us, ive; confidently look forward to another successful year.
