At the mechanical hare inquiry, Frederick Shaver Swindell, a prominent liguro in greyhound racing, entered the witness box to-day and was questioned about the £6OOO lie received irom Booth. He said ho had paid £O.IOO for State Labour party advertising and had agreed to back the Labour party's advertising bill during the Federal elections. Swindell was also questioned about If,ooo shares, which Jack Aturiro said were to be given him. He replied that there had been personal and company differences with Munro, involving at least that amount, and he (Swindell) saw a chanco of squaring the ledger with Munro. It was a perfectly open transaction.

The Koyal Commissioner later remarked: “In answering these questions, Mr. Swindell, I don’t want you to think I am a simple-minded person." Tho hearing was adjourned.
