MIDNIGHT BATHER’S PLIGHT

LOSES CLOTHES IN THE DARK A naked man walked into a policeman’s hut outside the Gladstone Dock, Scnforth, Liverpool, at 2 a.m. recently, and with a shiver explained that he had lost his clothes. He explained that as he was on his way home tlie River Mersey looked inviting and the night was mild, so he decided to have a bathe from the shore near by. He undressed, and left his clothes in a bundle, hut when lie returned he could not find the spot in the dark. He told how lie had searched around and at last decided to brave civilisation. The officer loaned him a couple of capes and sent him to hospital in an ambulance. There lie waited until clothes were sent from home later. Later it was reported that the clothes had been found when a constable made a daylight search.
