Death of Noted Japanese General
SEQUEL TO SHANGHAI BOMB OUTRAGE. LEADER OF ATTACK ON SHANGHAI. United Press Association—By Eleetric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Tuesday, 2 a.m. SHANGHAI, May 23. General Shirakawa, injured in the recent bomb outrage in Shanghai, died to-day about noon. The Japanese authorities are refraining from announcing the death, stating that the patient’s condition is grave. They have, however, suspended social functions and will not announce the death until the body is aboard the cruiser Hirato leaving to-morrow for Tokyo. General Shirakawa, who was commander-in-chief of the Japanese adventure in Shanghai, was elevated to haron directly the Emperor was apprised of the seriousness of his condition.
Postal Strike Continues
The Chinese postal strike continues and is affecting the outgoing mails. It is also expected there will he seme difficulty in securing the incoming mails. The Municipal Council is preparing ail emergency service.
