Clearing Cylinder Bolt Hold Plugs
Many cylinder head bolts are stripped because the holes in the cylinder block, into which the bolts arc screwed, -fill up with carbon when the pistons are scraped, with th-c result that tightening tho bolts is too much for the threads. A good plan is to place the bolts loosely in the holes nearest the piston being cleaned. Should carbon get into the holes, it can be readily removed by screwing a tyro pump hose to .a spare valve stem and blowing the carbon out of the holes. The end of the valve stem that go as inside the tube has a small hole tins acts as a nozzle.
