Jolly Evening at Raumai
The residence of Mr. and Mrs. T. Cllo.se, Raumai, was the scene of a pleasant evening on Thursday when friends from the district and Bulls and Palmerston North gathered on the occasion of Mr. Close’s 70th birthday. The drawingroom looked cosy and charming with decorations of whitebronze chrysanthemums and autumn foliage. In a happy little speech Mr. T. J. Spellman offered felicitations on behalf of those present, while Mr. Close suitably responded. Community singing, solos, elocution and cards were all enjoyed and a dainty supper with a beautiful birthday cake was served by the hostess. After the usual toasts were honoured a jolly evening terminated with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne.” - <
