Great Feat by British Motor Vehicles
(British Official Wireless.) Received Sunday, 9.5 p.m. RUGBY, Alay 21. The British War Offico report records of a fine performance by British, motor vehicles in Southern Sudan between January IS, when a convoy o.t four military vehicles left Cairo, and April 16, when the journey of 5600 miles was completed. Only a negligible proportion of this mileage was over made roads. Trackless desert and hilly ground represented 1650 miles, black cotton soil 1660 miles, very heavy sand 400 miles and hard gravel or sandy soil 1280 miles. Throughout there were only five punctures and no accidents occurred. The report says tho War Office is definitely satisfied that the British car and lorry manufacturers are now producing vehicles eminently suitable for Imperial and colonial employment.
