Moortown Golf Final Won by Hodson
PLUCKY UP-HILL FIGHT BY ROBSON. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Sunday, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, May 21. In the Moortown golf final Hodson defeated Robson at the 39th. Robson Four Down at Eighteenth. Received Sunday, 7.25 p.m. LONDON, May 22. The veteran, Robson, gavo the pluckiest display despite being four down at the eighteenth. He squared the match at the 30th and took the lead for the first time at the 31st. Robson was ultimately dormie and Hodson won the last hole. They halved the 37th and 38th, after which a tragedy overwhelmed Robson when his second went into the long grass and as the ball was hardly visible he picked up, acknowledging defeat.
Ladies’ International Gulf Match
AMERICA DEFEATS ENGLAND. Received Sunday, 9.50 p.m. LONDON, May 21. The first Anglo-American women’s golf match, played at Wentworth, was won by tho Americans. In the foursomes, Mesdames Vare and Hill beat Misses Wethered and Morgan 1 up; Misses Van Wio and Hicks beat Misses Wilson and Watson 2 and 1; Miss Orcutt and Mrs. Cheney boat Misses Gourlay and Park 1 up. Iti tho singles Miss Joj r ce Wethered beat Mrs. Vare 6 and 4; Miss Enid Wilson boat Miss Hicks 2 and 1; Mrs. Cheney beat Miss Coplett 4 and 3; Miss Diana Fishwick beat Miss Orcutt 4 and 3; Miss Van Wic beat Miss Morgan 2 and 1; Miss Gourlay and Mrs. Hill halved. Tho English girls played much below form, thoir putting being particularly weak, while tho Americans maintained their- reputations.
