(From Our Own Correspondent.) Miniature Rifle Shooting. The usual weekly shoot of the Hukanui Club was held on Monday evening, tho scores returned being of only medium standard. It was the linal shoot for Mr. E. R. Daldy’s trophy, and there are a dozen members to snoot off. The scores were as follows: Ladies.—Mrs. R. W. Foss 67; Miss D. Laurence 62; Mrs. J. Grant 61; Mrs. Watkins 52; Miss K. Welsh 32.Boys. —R. Welsh 67; H. Daldy 57; W. Leith 52. Men.—H. C. Rassmussen 68; E. L. Udy 66; A. T. Lawrence 66; C. R. Eddie 65; N. P. Goodin 65; E. R. In the first round of the Bush Rugby Union’s junior competition the Rongomai and Hukanui teams met at Hukanui on Saturday May 15th’.,’ tho latter proving victorious by 11 points (2 tries, one converted, and a penalty) to five (converted try). The match was quite interesting and was a hard straggle between two very evenly matched packs who kept the pressure on until the last whistle. • On the occasions when the play .was opened up the backs did not, on either side, make tho most of their opportunities, although when needed their defence was all that could be desired. Euchre Tournament, A euchre tournament and dance was held by the Hukanui Football Club on Wednesday evening, and was a pronounced success both socially and financially. The prizewinners were Mrs. Mooney (ladies first), Miss B. Harrington (ladies’ consolation), Mr T. B. Holdaway (men’s first), Mr H. Fuller (men’s consolation). ■
