A Late Autumn Wedding at Makino

Rev. F. E. Copeland was tlie officiating minister at the wedding which, tool; place at the Methodist Church, _ Makino, on Wednesday afternoon of Vera Phyllis, fifth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J, Amcr, of Makino, and Ivor Zack, son of Mr. C. B. Meads and the late Mrs. Meads, of Pakiliikura. Bowls of beautiful autumn /lowers were at the altar and bows to tone were tied to the pews reserved for relatives. The bride, whu entered the church accompanied by her father, looked very girlish in a little frock, charming in its simplicity. Made of heavy crepe de chine in a delicate shade of lavender grey, it was cut with a pleated skirt and bodice having groups of pin-tucks. Pipings of love-in-the-mist blue and a tiny touch of beige lace at the neck-lino gave the finishing touches. Her hat was of lavender grey Japanese Bankok, and she carried a bouquet of pink and white chrysanthemums, pink roses, white ncrincs and maidenhair fern, tied with white tulle. Miss Ida Amor, who attended her sister as bridesmaid, was in a sleeveless frock of spring green broehe silk with collar of beige crepe do chine deeply pointed at the back. A brilliant clasp ornamented the narrow belt that drew in the long bodice at the waistline. With this were worn black satiu shoes and a hat of daffodil ■crinoline lightly trimmed with ribbon and flat velvet, flowers. Bronze chrysanthemums and ilamo dahlias were the flowers she carried. Mr. V. Meads, of Uuntcrville, was best man, and Mr. A. Withers, of Makino, played the wedding music. After the ceremony the guests repaired to the home of the bride’s parents and were received by Mr. and Mrs. Amcr, the latter wearing a gown of black crepe do chine trimmed with ecru lace, and a lmt to tone. She carried a bouquet of chrysanthemums in autumn colourings. Mrs. A. Muir, of Wellington, aunt of the bride, was in black brocade relieved with apricot georgette, and a small black hat. Autumn flowers and tinted leaves graced the breakfast table, whereon reposed tlie beautifully decorated two-tier wedding cake, which had been made by the bride’s sister-in-law, Mrs. E. Amcr. Above the bride and bridegroom hung a lovely bell of autumn flowers and asparagus fern, made and presented by Mrs. George Turnbull,

of Makino. The health of the happy couple was proposed by Rev. Mr. Copeland, and that, of Mr. and Mrs. Amcr and Mr. C. B. Meads by Mr. W. P. Bickers. The bridegroom proposed the health of Miss 1. Amcr, to which Mr. V. Meads responded. Short speeches were also made by the fathers of both, bride and bridegroom. Congratulatory telegrams were read by the best man. The bride’s travelling ensemble when she later left by car with her husband comprised a frock of bulrush brown corduroy velvet lightly flecked with red ano beige, the collar and jabot being oi beige suede crepe do chine, a coat of brown flecked tweed with fur collar and cuffs, and a beret to tone. A groat number of handsome presents were received by Mr. and Mrs. Meads, who will make their home in Huntcrville.
