Improving Appearance of Show Halls
BEAVERBOARD SCREENS TOR ROOFS. With a view to improving the appearance of the halls, reported the president (Mr. M. A. Eliott) to tho monthly meeting yesterday of the general committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Association, it had been suggested that beavorboard screens should be hung from the roofs. Oil entering a hall, one would then see a long vista of signs bearing such slogans as “Buy New Zealand goods,” “New Zealand goods for New Zealand people” and “Buy British.” There would bo no private advertising on tho signs. It had been suggested that the manufacturers’ Association and kindred bodies should be asked to contribute to the cost, estimated at £SO for each hall, and provided that half of the amount was forthcoming the association would go ahead with tho proposal.
Mr. T. R. Hodder inquired what tho position would be if no assistance was received towards tho cost. Mr. Eliott: We would have to reconsider it.
A vote of thanks was accorded Mr, A. Hopwood for a donation of £5 towards tho cost.
