All Saints’ Church

ANNUAL MEETING Or PARISHIONERS The annual meeting of parishioners of All Saints’ Church was held in the parish hall last evening, the vicar (Canon G. Y. Woodward) presiding over a good attendance. Associated •with him were Messrs. 0. Monrad (vicar’s warden) and K. G. Bagnall (people’s warden). Annual Report The annual report, which was presented by Mr. H. G. Bagnall, was as follows: “It is satisfactory to be able to report that the incomo slightly exceeds the expenditure, despite the continuance of the depression. Subsidiary indebtedness shows a satisfactory reduction, the debt on the Boys’ Club having •been reduced from £251 14/ to £214 18/, Takaro committee from £55 to £3O, and Longburn committeo from £45 to £3O. In addition to tho credit of £25 2/6 in the new vicarage fund shown by the balance-sheet, £350 has been promised by a generous parishioner, and the members of the Ladies’ Guild arc tackling the problem with their customary enthusiasm and have, so far, £SO in hand. The total available therefore is £425 2/6. During the year the sum of £SO has been received from the executors in the estato of Mr. Thomas Keeblc, for which we were very grateful. The satisfactory sum of £7O IS/ was raised in the parish for the benefit of the diocese of Waiapu. The sum of £SO has been spent on the church roof, and a substantial amount in repairs and painting on the old buildings. Rev. J. h. Neiid resigned after four years’ curacy in tho parish, during which time he made many friends, to take a position at St. Andrew’s. Church, Uxbridge. The vicar has appointed Rev. C. Hyde, from St. Gabriel's, Pimlico, who will arrive in the first week of June, heralded by the most enthusiastic eulogies by all who have known him. To Mr. Harwood and his assistants much credit is due for attention to the church grounds. To Mr. Martvn Abraham the parish is indebted for his carrying out in his usual efficient stylo tiie duties of vicar’s warden during Mr. Monrad’s absence. Mr. Monrad will be with us before the annual meeting, and we shall all be delighted to welcome him and Mrs. Monrad after their long trip abroad. I cannot conclude without thanking and congratulating tho parishioners, country districts and Takaro for their loyal financial help during the past very trying year.” On behalf of the parishioners Mr. J. Holmes Runnicles expressed appreciation of the excellent report and balancesheet that had been presented by the vestry. The* vicar presented an extensive report, covering the activities of all the church organisations and paying tribute to tho zeal and loyalty of all the church officers. Rev. P. "Wiltshire gave a comprehensive report of church activities in the country districts, a gratifying feature being the great progress made, particularly at Longburn. Election of Officers

Tho following officers were elected for the ensuing year: VicaT’s warden, Mr. 0. Monrad (re-elected); people’s warden, Mr. 11. G. Bagnall (re-elected); eynodsmen, Messrs. C. H. Handley and O. Returning thanks for his re-election as people’s warden, Mr. Bagnall said he also wished to thank tho parishioners for the handsome way in which they had supported the finances of the parish. Following a recommendation from All Saints’ Men’s Club, it was resolved that one or two conferences bo held of aii church organisations during tho year, to discuss finance and general matters. Votes of thanks were extended to Mr. F. Owtram for his services as synodsman over a period of nine years; to the Sunday school teachers for their self-sacrificing work; to the choir and choirmaster (Mr. J. Holmes Runniclcs).
