No More Capping Capers
OTAGO UNIVERSITY COUNCIL’S DECISION Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Last Night. The University Council at a meeting to-day adopted ■ the report by the professorial board, tho effect ■ of which will be the virtual abolition of the capping carnival as it has been contituted fo r many years. The graduation ceremony will be held in tho first term and the capping entertainment, which is all that survives of tho carnival, must be held in the second, and is limited to four nights. The capping ball as at present constituted is abolished, but may be resurrected under the control of the council. No procession or appearance on the street in fancy dress will be allowed.
