Local Soccer Season Opens
ATHLETIC BEAT R.S.A. Saturday afternoon witnessed the opening of the Association football season in the Manawntu, when friendly matches were played. Athletic and R.S.A. met at North street park and St. Andrew’s paid a visit to Feilding. Friendly fifth grade and primary division matches were also played. Tho Athletic v. R.S.A. match proved very entertaining and for the initial contest of the season produced quite good football. Athletic were the aggressors until the final fcw T minutes when R.S.A. rose to the occasion too late to avert defeat by three goals to two.
Playing at Flock House, St. Andrew’s scored an easy win over ,thc homo team by live goals to one. The match was well contested, but .'the visitors showed superior combination. Tho following arc tho results of the junior matches: — Fifth grade: Y.M.C.A. S v. Terrace End Scouts 0; St. Paul’s 0 v, To Awe Awo Old Boys 0; All Saints’ Scouts 4 v. The Rest 1.
Primary grade: Representative team 2 v. Feilding 0.
