A record that would be hard to beat has been established by Mr. E. W. Collins, of Newbury, who retired last evening from the Newbury School Committee. It was stated at the householders’ meeting that Mr. Collins had been a member of the committee for 30 years, and had idled the position of chairman during the past twenty years. Warm congratulations on his noteworthy achievement were extended Mr. Collins by those present, the new chairman, Mr. Shaw, stating that it would be difficult to follow tho admirable lead set. The school and parents would suffer a heavy loss through Mr. Collins' decision to retire, as during his long service he had invariably placed the interests of the children first.
