(From Our Own Correspondent.) On Monday last the employees of the Glaxo factory gathered in the office to extend their best wishes to Air. B. Sigglekow, who was recently married. Air. A. T. Mitchell apologised for the absence of the manager, Air. J. Robertson, and, on behalf of the employees, presented Mr. .Sigglekow with a handsome tea service, and extended to him their best wishes for his future happiness. In a neat speech Mr. Sigglekow expressed his appreciation of his fellow workers’ thoughtfulness. On Tuesday afternoon last the young ladies of the Bunnythorpo Hockey and Tennis Clubs tendered a pleasant afternoon tea in tho recreation ground pavilion to Mrs. C. Kent, who is leaving the district at an early date to reside in Wairoa. On behalf of the two clubs, Air. O. Jackson, president of the Tennis Club, spoke of Mrs. Kent’s sterling qualities and of tho great assistance she had been to both clubs whilst a member of them. He then asked her to accept a beautiful bronze glass-lined fruit dish and also a bronze glass-lined vase, as mementos of her association with the two clubs. The recipient feelingly expressed her sincere thanks, and her regret at severing her connection with the Hockey and Tennis Clubs with which she had spent very enjoyable times. A dainty afternoon tea was served, after which tho singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow,” and tnree enthusiastic cheers concluded a very enjoyable afternoon. Mr. L. Raikes, railway surfaceman, is at present on his annual leave. The ladies’ hockey team and the football teams aro getting down VO practice for tho coining season. The football club can manage two teams this season, junior and fourth grade. A junior team only was fielded last year, but this year a little scouting about proved successful in interesting enough lads in tho game so that a fourth grade team could bo fielded also.
