Wellington War Memorial
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night, This afternoon tho Wellington citizens’ war memorial was formally handed to the city at a dedication ceremony •attended in perfect weather by a large gathering. Tho parade included a detachment of the New Zealand Naval Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, Territorials, college cadets and returned soldiers. The Governor-General and Lady Bledisloc were present and the dedication was performed by the Bishop of Wellington (Bishop Sprott). Among tho speakers wero the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) and Rt. lion. J. G. Coates. Tho latter proposed that iu accordance with the practice in London at the Cenotaph, citizens should display homage by baring their heads as they passed the memorial. The suggestion was supported by Colonel 11. E. Avery (president of the R.S.A.) and other speakers.
