A Denial

To tho Editor. Sir—lt has come to my knowledge that at the Labour Party meeting held in tho Opera House yesterday the chairman, Mr. J. Hodgens, referred to “our Communist friend, Trott, Trow, or Prow.” As my name was the one mentioned last, I have no option but to take the liberty of clearing this ghastly stain from my namo and character through the columns of your paper. I am the son of highly respected peoplo of this city and was brought up under two slogans: “To thine own self bo time,” and “Honesty is the best policy.” At the present tirno I am endeavouring to keep a wife and family honest, respectable, law-abiding citizens with money carried as a relief worker employed under the No. 5 scheme. I definitely deny tho insinuation that I am a Communist. I do not even know the moaning or definition of Communist or Communism. —I am, etc., _ROY FREW. Church street, Palmerston North.
