Notes of the Say
As the allocation for Fcilding’s unemployed for the week ending April 23, the “off” week, is inadequate to meet the requirements of the local committee, a telegram was dispatched to the Unemployment Board yesterday, requesting a further grant. Feilding’s protest against the proposed sales tax was yesterday telegraphed to the Prime Minister and the member for Oroua, Hon. J. G, Cobbe. Poppy Day was observed in Feilding yesterday with very satisfactory results. Under the auspices of tho local branch of the K.S.A. a committee of ladies saw to the sale of the red flowers of remembrance, and few, if any, citizens failed to acknowledge the occasion. The Feilding Municipal Band will play a programme of music in the rotunda, (Manchester Square, to-morrow at 2.45 p.m., weather permitting. The preacher at the Feilding returned soldiers’ memorial service at St. John's Anglican Church on Anzac Day will be Rev. B. V. Gerard, M.A., M.C., vicar of Pahiatua. Particulars of the parade and service will be advertised later.
