Palmerston North Wool, Skin, Hide and Tallow Sale

Abraham and AVjlliams, Limited, report on the monthly sale of wool, skins, hides and tallow held yesterday when another large catalogue, particularly in the liido section, was offered to the usual bench of buyers. AVool: Showed a sharp decline in values and competition was somewhat weak. Sheepskins: Prices for dry skins were a little erratic with a good demand, but taken all round were on a par with our last sale. The demand for salted skins was very dull at prices fully 4d below our realisations of a month ago. Hides: Met with good competition, but most sorts were 3d to Ad lower, but light hides were .very firm. Calfskins were very weak. Tallow: Competition was good and a decided rise of Is to Js 6d per cwt. was evident. The following is our range of prices: AVool: Fine crossbred 3Jd to 4d; crossbred 2Ad to 3d; inferior crossbred 2d to 2-Ad; dead Id to 2id; bellies and pieces Ad to lid. Sheepskins—Dry: Fine hoggets 3d to 3id; line crossbred 3Jd to 34; crossbred 2jd to 33d; 3-} wools 2]d to 2Jd; shorts lid to 21-d; pelts Id to lid; lambs 3id to 34d; dead to IJd; seedy lid to 2}d; line damaged to 2fd; damaged lAd'to lid. Salted: £hort-3 wools Sd to lOd; pelts to woolly pelts Sd to 9d. Hides: Ox heavy 4jd to sid; ox medium to 43d; ox light to 3Ad; cow heavy 3id to 3g-d; cow meejium 3d to Sid; cow light old to 4|d; calfskins heavy to 3d; calfskins cut 2d to 2Ad; calfskins light 4d to old; calfskins light, cut, 2d to 3d; calfskins light, slippy, Id to 2d.

Tallow: In tins, super 13s to 14s; in drums, first 12s to Its (id; in drums, second Gs Gd to Ss. Horse hair: Sd to 12d.
