Jack Hylton, tho famous jazz conductor, who comes from Bolton, Lancashire, and has never tried to conceal it, had recently to acquire an Oxford accent. The reason was that Mr. Hylton and hi 3 celebrated band were engaged, at an immense fee, to broadcast from Savoy Hill to 60 stations in the United States. The cigarette firm which paid the fee stipulated the Oxford accent.
