Zane Grey Plans to Visit N.Z. in November
FIVE MONTHS’ FISHING TRIP. Another extended fishing trip to New Zealand has been planned by Mr. Zane Grey, who expects to arrive in the Dominion on November 1. Ho had intended spending this summer on the New Zealand deep-sea fishing grounds in his new schooner-yacht “Fisherman 11.” expecting later to go to Tahiti for further deep-sea sport. Business arrangements, however, kept him in the United States and he was compelled to cancel tho preparations made in this country for the accommodation of his party. Word has now been received in xVuckland that Mr. Grey, with a small party, will come to New Zealand by mail steamer toward the end of the year, when he will tako delivery of the large twin-screw fishing and cruising launch Frangipani, which is being built to bis order at the yards of Messrs. Collings and Bell at St. Mary's Bay. According to his letter, he proposes to fish round the coasts of New Zealand until the beginning of ApX of next year. Ho will then take the Frangipani under her own power to Tahiti. It is understood that at the conclusion of the Tahiti visit the launch will be shipped to California. The Frangipani has an overall length of 46ft. and a beam of 12ft. 9in. She is of the flush-deck type and is designed to give comfortable accommodation to a fairly largo party. She is fitted with two Redwing motors, each developing from 80 to 100 h.p., which should give her a speed of nearly 12 knots. She has room in her tanks for the storage of 600 gallons of petrol, giving her a cruising radius of over 1000 miles.
