The Duchess of Atholl, who is one of tho ablest of tho woman M.sP. at Westminster, is the author oi a new guide book for women politicians and voters. She is a person of tiemendous onergy, for her duties as PaTliamcutary .secretary to the Board of Education absorb a great deal of her time a.nd she keeps in close touch with educational development of all kinds. Her Scottish constituency is ono of tho largest in tho British isles and iff is a Sabbath day’s journey from one end of it to tho other. She is active in her work for tho Red Cross and for district nursing, sho is a delightful hostess, and in between political and social duties sho finds time to keep abreast of modern literature and music, of which she herself is a noteworthy exponent. She wrote “Women and Polities,” (Philip Allen, London), with the idea of helping busy women to add to the background of thoir political knowledge, In it sho outlines tho work of the various Government departments, to give the woman voter some knowledge of how administration is carried on, discusses various questions regarding woman’s status, suggests simple ways in which voters can get at real facts in political discussions, and emphasises the need for weighing _ one thing against another in politics. Finally, the Duchess touches ou the contributions which women have made, and have in their power to make to the solution of national problems.
